Vecindario Holidays

Travel Agent's View

Travel Agents View ...the main road of Vecindario is lined from end to end with shops and restaurants.

Situated on the east coast of the island, Vecindario is a modern town which will appeal to families and couples looking for fun and relaxing holiday with plenty of amenities close by.

The nearby beach of Pozo Izquierdo is superb for water sports and is famous for hosting windsurfing championships every year in July.

Another of the areas great claims is for shopping opportunities, the main road of Vecindario is lined from end to end with shops and restaurants. As well as the main shopping street there are also 3 large shopping centres, so be sure to take your credit card when visiting here!

One of the major plus points of the towns location is as it is outside of the major tourist resorts prices tend to be slightly cheaper than in main resorts.

The resort offers a wide range of dining options with a vast range of local and international menus on offer as well as several fast food outlets.

Vecindario is situated approx 13 km from the airport.

Gran Canaria Insider It's a serious bargain-hunters haven and heaven on earth when the sales are on...

Lock your credit cards in the hotel safe would be my one piece of advice if you're going anywhere near here. The one thing, and one thing only, which Vecindario is notable for is shops, shops, and more shops. It's the sort of shop-till-you drop type of place that makes grown men quake in their boots.

This town should have been twinned with Chicago long ago. In fact, I've often wondered if the windmills on the opposite side of the motorway aren't there for generating the gale force gusts just to keep you inside and spending. It's a rare day when the flags aren't flapping, so tie your hair back and hope for the best or invest in a baseball cap.

The Atlantic Centre, next to the Vecindario Airport Hotel, is full of all the big name shops and is a good place to look for electronic goods or cameras. Even though the commercial centre is air-conditioned for comfortable, summer shopping, I still much prefer the throng of shops along the main street. It's a serious bargain-hunters haven and heaven on earth when the sales are on. For clothes and shoes you can't beat it.

A girl's got to keep her spending strength up so if I've been pounding the bargain beat, I usually stop off at Lovali's on the main street for a club sandwich. It's cheap and cheerful and you get chips with it. They've taken over part of the pavement as a terrace, but watch out for the wind, it'll whip the froth off your coffee.

Vecindario is a big town, but one which is missing the vital extras that make it worth visiting. There's no old quarter or anything vaguely historic so cross it off your list for sightseeing. Never mind, what it lacks in cultural antiquities it makes up for in, yes, you guessed it, shops.
