San Agustin Holidays

Travel Agent's View

Travel Agents View ...ideally located for visitors to enjoy the peacefulness of the resort but close enough to its neighbour to enjoy its amenities and vibrant night life.

Situated on the south east coast, San Agustin is an ideal choice for those seeking a relaxing holiday. Just 5 km along the coast from the bustling Playa del Ingles, San Agustin is ideally located for visitors to enjoy the peacefulness of the resort but close enough to its neighbour to enjoy its amenities and vibrant night life.

The beach here is less busy than that of its neighbour making it popular with families although it does tend to be popular with the locals, especially at weekends. Within the resort there is a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants.

For great days out and family fun there are water parks, theme parks and amusements just a short drive away.

The resort is situated approx 27 km from the airport.

Gran Canaria Insider If I'm in the mood for spoiling myself I drop in at the Greek Taverna on the corner of the centre.

San Agustin has one of the few beaches on the island with collectable stones and shells. Yes, I've got loads of shiny, green ones, they make great paperweights! Searching for them is brilliant for keeping the kids occupied for hours while you concentrate on your sunbathing and have a sneaky peak at the Bay Watch Brigade rippling their six packs and making the whole stretch a safer place. To be honest, I've never seen them do a rescue, but it's quite entertaining watching them battle through the surf in their red, rubber dinghy.

A bit like the mini-skirt, San Agustin's been in and out of fashion over the years. Its been revamped, redesigned, abandoned and then rejuvenated. I love the place, especially the curving walkway along the sea-front. The breeze from the Atlantic can be bracingly invigorating and even though the breakers crash along the rocks, it's somehow peaceful and soul restoring.

The labyrinth of the shopping centre makes me want to take a ball of string with me just to make sure I can find the way out. It's not a very exciting place with no good shops as such, but there are a few bars and restaurants worth having a nosey round and a children's entertainment centre, Yuppi Park, on the top floor. If I'm in the mood for spoiling myself I drop in at the Greek Taverna on the corner of the centre. Although it's not cheap, I can't resist the olives and tzatziki and if I have to admit it, the odd sip or two of ouzo.

To have a wild night it would be better to taxi into Playa del Ingles unless you feel like being flash nd having a spend in the Casino at the Hotel Tamarindos. You never know, you might come out better off than you went in or would that be called wishful thinking?
